Minimising waste stream volume is contributing to our carbon reduction. Mineral processing is an energy intensive business and the reduction of process energy usage offers the biggest opportunity for Viaton to reduce carbon footprint.

Our business philosophy of continual improvement extends to carbon reduction. The reduction of specific energy consumption is therefore an important company KPI.

Energy performance monitoring and kaizen helps us to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and specific energy consumption by:-

• Investment in energy efficient process improvements.

• Reduction of process variability through process optimisation.

• Gradual replacement of older electrical motors in favour of high efficiency motors.

• Optimising lighting levels and requirements.

• Optimising compressor power usage and control.

• Maximising available kinetic micronising energy by using high pressure hot air.

• Optimising voltage and power factor correction.

• Reclaiming process waste heat for factory heating.
