Micronised Barytes is used in marine coatings to increase chemical resistance and advance anti corrosion properties. Barytes also has the additional benefit of reducing VOC content.
Client Applications
Viaton Industrial mineral fillers are employed in technically advanced applications where our partner customers are recognised as innovators in providing new solutions in their chosen fields contributing to the advancement of science and technology throughout the world. Viaton mineral fillers offer unique properties and we work closely with our customers to assist in formulation development and improvement where required.
Building Construction
The Burj Al Arab Hotel situated in Dubai is the most photographed hotel in the world. Micronised Barytes was used in formulations for sound deadening and sound deflecting products incorporated into the walls during construction. With its exceptionally high specific gravity of 4.4 Barytes offers superior sound absorption properties enabling thin wall solutions.
Science
Built at a cost of £260 million the Diamond Synchrotron located in Oxfordshire is at the forefront of scientific research. Generating Electromagnetic radiation emitted by charged particles moving at the speed of light at wavelengths from X-rays to the far infrared, its construction required the extensive use of dense concrete containing Barytes for radiation shielding. Viaton supplied all the coarse Barytes required for the project.
