Micronised Barium Sulphate and Talc are produced from lump rock. Micronisation uses energy but is a physical process with no by-products or chemical waste. Viaton have embarked on a major project to significanlty reduce carbon footprint by employing renewable energy.

Gells Adit in the Via Gellia was a typical local reasonably extensive lead mine exhibiting fine stone stempling and some nicely developing natural flowstone since working ceased.
